Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez
Reviewed by Dawn. Everything is going wrong in Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life. Her divorce from her cheating husband has left her reeling and untrusting, her once vibrant brother is declining both mentally and physically while he waits for a kidney donor, and her promotion is in jeopardy due to an arrival from a new doctor who Briana instantly hates on site.
Dr. Jacob Maddox is trying to make a fresh start at a new job. His crippling anxiety ruined his previous relationship and also caused him to make a terrible first impression on his new coworkers. Not knowing how to fix things, he writes Dr. Ortiz a letter. What ensues is the slow building of a wonderful friendship that turns into so much more.
This is a very enjoyable book and I appreciated the terrific job it does of exploring the realities of living with a severe anxiety disorder. However, the constant misunderstandings between the two main characters became annoying after a while and the story dragged a bit. I’d still recommend this book, although I’ve enjoyed others by this author more.
