February 2024
At the February 21st regular meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the sale of $7.55M in bonds to partially fund the renovation plan by passing Ordinance 2024-1. The remaining costs of the $10.5M project, will come from capital reserve savings. The Board also awarded the Moving Services bid to the lowest responsible bidder, Hallett Movers. 

January 2024
The Bond Notification Hearing was held on January 17, 2024.  The bond issuance process has begun. The bond sale of $9M will take place on February 21, 2024. 

December 2023
At the December 13 regular meeting, the Board of Trustees voted to award construction bids for the renovation project. Shales McNutt (SMC) is the construction management company overseeing the project. 
The Board of Trustees also approved Ordinance 2023-8 Authorizing the  Notice of Intent to Issue  Bonds. A hearing will be held on January 17 at 6:00 pm. 

November 2023
The Village Board unanimously approved the drive-through plan
Public notice for bids went out on November 7. Bids are due on November 30, bid opening is 1:00 pm. 

October 2023
The Village of Plainfield’s Planning Commission unanimously approved the Library’s  plan for a drive-through pick-up window in the renovation plan. Drive-throughs are considered special use permit by the Village.

September 2023
The Library Board and Architects presented a design plan for informational purposes at the Village of Plainfield’s Committee of the Whole meeting on 09.11.23. 

May 2023
Revised exterior design plans as well as initial interior design plans were presented by SNHA Architects. 

April 2023
SNHA Architects presented elevation (exterior) design plans

March 2023
SNHA Architects presented a revised design plan based on budget adjustments and concerns for the shared parking lot costs. 

January 2023
Meristem Financial Advisors presented an updated financial plan for the Library to consider in order to finance the renovation. 

November 2022
Shales McNutt Construction was retained as the Construction Manager at Risk for the Library’s expansion project.  Cost estimates for construction begin. 

September 2022
A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) was issued to hire a Construction Management firm to oversee the construction of the renovation and addition. 

June 2022
The Board of Trustees signed a contract to engage Sheehan Nagle Hartray Architects for architectural services for a self-funded $9M renovation. 

April 2022
Architects Sheehan Nagle Hartray presented a Feasibility Study regarding potential options for renovating the library.

January 2022
The Library has now completed year two of the Strategic Plan; see the progress report for the latest achievements. 

July 2021
The newest  six-month update to the Strategic Plan for calendar year 2021. 

January 2021
The Library’s progress report, completing the first year of the four-year plan has been released. 

August 2020

December 2019
The Board of Trustees approved the Strategic Plan for 2020-2024. Read the full document here

A community survey is conducted to obtain feedback from the community about the goals and strategies for the Library’s future.  

May 2019
The Board of Trustees hires Fast Forward Libraries and consultant Amanda Standerfer, to work with the Board, staff and community in developing a new strategic plan for the future of the Plainfield Public Library District. 

July 2017
The Board of Trustees is in the very beginning stages of developing a new strategic plan for the Library’s future. The Strategic Plan FY2016 and beyond is the most recent plan; however the Board is considering new ideas and options. A new  Building Assessment 2017 was completed in April 2017.
