Thiago and Vera are so excited to move into their new Chicago condo. That is, until weird things start happening. Random cold spots. Scratching from within the walls. They’re able to chalk it up to, well, just weird stuff. But then, after purchasing an Itza smart speaker, the weirdness escalates to random packages arriving (industrial strength lye anyone?) and Itza talking to someone in the next room or projecting strange shadows on the walls. Even returning the device doesn’t help.
In the midst of all of this, Vera is murdered, and, hoping to escape the media circus as well as his own grief and rage, Thiago holes up in a remote Colorado cabin. Some things you just can’t escape though.
Ok, so, what if you took The Shining, Pet Semetary, 2001 Space Odyssey and just for fun added a little bit of H.P. Lovecraft and shook them all together? Probably something like This Thing Between Us would happen, and the result is utterly terrifying. Moreno deftly pays homage to old favorites, and yet manages to create something unique and all his own. Horror fans, keep an eye on this guy – one can only imagine what he’s got in store for us next time!
