Ellice Littlejohn is a corporate attorney for a company in Atlanta. On the surface, she seems to have it all – a successful career, a nice house, beautiful clothes, a handsome rich “boyfriend” (who just so happens to be her boss). One morning, called in for an early meeting, she arrives to find Michael dead in his office from a gunshot wound. Panicked, she leaves the office, hoping that she hasn’t been seen. When she gets summoned in to the executive suite the next day, she’s sure she’s about to lose her job, but instead, she’s been promoted as Michael’s replacement. Uneasy about the promotion, she proceeds with caution, and with good cause, as she encounters some very strange things and uncovers some extremely shady dealings within the company. Soon, she’s fighting not only to keep her past secrets safe, but also to expose the culprits.
As a successful female lawyer, the only black employee in the corporate office, and dark secrets that she’s trying to outrun, Ellice is living a double life of sorts. In order to bring justice, Ellice is dramatically forced to face both her past and present. As a first book from this author, this is a truly riveting story, and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us. Publishing date: 11/2/21
