Norman is almost 12, and he along with his best friend Jax have come up with a brilliant five year plan -they’re going to take their comedy routine to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. All work on the plan comes to a screeching halt though when Jax dies. That is, until Norman comes up with another plan – he wants to perform at the Fringe in honor of Jax, and he wants to find his father. Determined to see a smile on her son’s face again, Sadie looks for a way to help Jax with his plan and tells the story to Leonard, a retired gentleman who works as a janitor at her company. Together, the trio embark on a madcap, once in a lifetime adventure to Scotland.
Told in alternating points of view, this story is often funny, sometimes sad, and there truly is never a dull moment. Perfect if you’re looking for something that’s a bit on the lighter side. Recommended for fans of One Plus One by JoJo Moyes or Be Frank With Me by Julia Claiborne.
