Late one evening Jen is waiting for her teenage son Todd to get home. As he comes up the walk, she sees that he’s being followed, and to her horror, sees Todd stab the man. The next morning, Jen, a lawyer, is ready to spring into action, setting out to get her son released from jail. Except that somehow, it’s not the day after the murder, it’s the day before. Desperately, Jen begins scrambling, trying to find a way to stop the murder from happening, while also trying to figure out how she woke up yesterday. Jen continues to wake up in the past, gradually moving to days, months and years, and each time she wakes up, she’s pointed in a direction that brings her one step closer to solving the mystery of what happened that night.
McAllister’s books are always a great read, but by taking a thriller and giving it a new perspective, she’s given us a book that amps up the suspense in a whole new way.
