An unapologetic yet down to earth animal lover, Orlean writes humorously and realistically about show dogs, tigers, mules, homing pigeons, animal actors, whales, and many more in this wonderful collection of essays. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite, but her tales of raising chickens are at the top of the list.
